To whom it may concern:
Please save the date for 30-31 October 2015 as students of New York University Abu Dhabi will be hosting the second annual Public Health Think Tank. The Public Health Think Tank at NYUAD is a student-led, collaborative, interdisciplinary, and locally engaged initiative designed to catalyze public health innovation in the United Arab Emirates. The 2015 conference will focus on obesity among children and adolescents, one of the most pressing public health issues in the UAE today.
Students from various universities across the UAE will work together in teams composed of 3-4 delegates, with team members from different universities and academic backgrounds, and thereby contributing complementary knowledge and skillsets. Each of these teams will be challenged to devise a public health intervention strategy to contribute effectively to the local battle against youth obesity. The strategies will be judged by a panel of public health experts on the basis of feasibility and originality.
The 2015 Public Health Think Tank conference aims to increase public health awareness in the UAE and to unite local university students in solving a problem of great societal importance. This year’s conference is an expansion of a successful pilot project that took place in Fall 2014, and aspires to become a lighthouse for public health innovation in the Gulf region.
